OUR GROWING STORY
Harriet’s Plants is the first small scale, peat free grower of houseplants. Despite the claims of many, we truly and proudly, are the first.
As champions of the peat free movement #peatfreepeople, it is our aim to encourage everyone to grow peat free and buy peat free. Peat is a hugely beneficial resource in our fight against climate change.
OUR GROWING ROOTS
The Harriet’s Plants journey began in a teeny polytunnel nestled in the back garden of my parents’ home. Since then, the greenhouse has relocated 3 times; from Cornwall to the Midlands (where I grew up), to a larger space nearby and then back here to our roots. Cornwall is our soul home.
For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about plants and growing plants. They’ve woven themselves throughout my life in many beautiful ways. I’ve worked on farms across the world, continue the joyful practice of growing my own food and also studied plant science at the Eden Project in Cornwall. I am a qualified horticulturalist; working in some fantastic gardens - Chelsea Physic Garden, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project and Tregoose.
OUR GROWING MISSION
For many years, my sole focus has been on growing sustainable houseplants that can be delivered from The Greenhouse, to your door. Harriet’s Plants also supplies a growing network of independent house plant specialists, with UK grown, peat free plants. Our wholesale partners hold the same ethical standards as I do - together, we can help to make the world a greener place.
It’s an absolute pleasure to, not only grow plants, but educate people on their environmental impact within horticulture. We all have an impact. It is my continued purpose to guide you on how to make that impact as positive as possible. My ultimate mission is to leave the world better than we found it - reusing what we can, growing in the least impactful way and following the guidance of Mother Nature.

Harriet’s Plants is a wholly sustainable plant business. We’re committed to growing peat free, chemical free, UK grown and single use plastic free plants. We pride ourselves on our ethos and positive environmental practices. We’re incredibly excited that in 2024 we have the opportunity to grow more, educate more and most importantly… grow together.
