Nordmann fir Christmas tree

£32.00

A little bit about the Nordmann fir and the grower

This potted and wholly sustainable Christmas tree is a non-drop variety that is one of the most popular Christmas trees in the UK. They are extremely easy to care for and as they are potted, will last for as long as you are happy to look after them. THIS COULD BE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS!!

A great tree that isn’t just for one Christmas it’s for many, many more to come.

All of these trees are peat free, chemical free and grown in Cornwall on a 12 acre ecological site that is home to so much wildlife. Jon the original grower of these trees is equally as obsessed with the environment as I am which makes me very excited for people to be able to have a truly environmentally friendly Christmas with these trees and for people to keep these trees living for as long as possible. My personal Nordamnn fir has doubled in size in just 1 year and I can honestly say that these trees are without a doubt sustainable from seed to your door.

Watch your Christmas tree grow with your family each year.

Size:
Small - 40cm+ in height
Pot - 7.5L

Care

Light: Keep outdoors straight after Christmas.

Water: Keep well watered and don’t allow to dry out, especially when they are in your heated homes over the Christmas period. Remember they are outdoor plants so enjoy the colder months of the UK. They don’t mind being in your home for the Christmas period but put them outside when you are ready to do so. (You can even keep them decorated outside if you want to)

Temperature: They are extremely hardy and will happily go down to temperatures in the minus numbers so there is no need to worry about them being outside over winter, in fact they will thrive in it.

Humidity: Not necessary

Why are all of our plants peat free?

We have never and will never use peat in the growing of our plants.

Harriet’s Plants is the first small scale, peat free, chemical free and 100% UK grown, planet friendly grower of houseplants. This means that I grow EVERYTHING within my glasshouse in Cornwall. The majority of growers are overseas and use peat as their main ingredients in their substrates.

Why virgin plastic free?

Harriets Plants uses no virgin plastic pots and instead recycles nursery pots from local garden centres to utilise for growing.
We also use coir pots, which are made from coconut fibres to create a 100% compostable and degradable pot over time. These coir pots are sustainably sourced and support women with fair paid work in Sri Lanka.

Why Chemical free?

Harriets Plants is against the use of pesticides and un-natural chemicals.

We grow our peat free houseplants following organic practices and never use harmful chemicals within the nursery.  We are a biodynamic houseplant and outdoor plant nursery that focuses on working with the natural environment to grow hardier and more environmentally friendly houseplants and outdoor plants to the UK.

What are 100% UK grown houseplants?

Did we mention we are 100% Cornwall, UK grown? All the houseplants and outdoor plants within the nursery are grown right here in the UK.  This means the whole process from seed sowing, propagating and growing a full houseplant, happens right under one glass roof. No plant imports take place at Harriets Plants.

What are Sustainable houseplants?

As a whole practice, Harriets Plants grows sustainable houseplants and outdoor plants for the UK.

This encompasses peat free, chemical free, virgin plastic free and 100% UK grown houseplants and outdoor plants. All of the plants on this website are sustainably grown and follow organic practices. The perfect gift for the eco warrior in your life.
